Antique GEORGIAN Era Locket Reversible Panel Swivel Ring 18k Gold Beveled Frame French OPENS Hinged Compartment
I am back from my inventory trips to Europe and listing an assortment of hand picked antique jewelry which I have selected one at a time from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!

So many intricate components on this one including movable parts!
French antique Georgian era locket ring in 18k gold. The ring face is a double sided glass compartment that swivels in the band. I assume this was originally a hair locket so perhaps the intention was to be able to view the intricately woven segment from both sides? Sometimes hair work pieces also held a monogrammed panel or pieces so it may have been hair on one side and a monogram on the other, etc? In today's day and age, I could see it holding small pictures, different on each side.
I actually think it is pretty to wear even empty as you get the chunky beveled frame / cover pane that you can look through. Such intricate fabrication with a beautiful rosy glow of the antique gold.
Found in France. It has their later hallmark for 18k gold, stamped as required for sale in the secondary market. Note that this is a Very delicate piece - more details below.
Antique boxes, props, mice, dishes ; ) not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7 3/4, The locket about 20x11mm. It weighs 3g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
This piece is sooo delicate. The shank seems flexible as it can move at each of the riveted sides. We are talking abut 200 year old gold hinges so this one really needs a gentle hand and very gentle special occasion wear as it is a special piece, appropraite for collection and display. It does not snap strongly closed, but it does close and stay closed. I noticed having to close one side first and then the other. You wouldn't want to force it and risk bending the delicate frame, and one should avoid repeated opening and closing with the 200 year old gold parts. Nice sheen to the glass still, often times these are scuffed quite dull at this age. No noticeable condition issues while wearing but very intricate fabrication needs a very gentle hand. A delicate but special little treasure.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
